Weirdness Abounds...

Well...this is definitely a first for me. -_-;

Ever concentrated so hard on reading that all your muscles tensed? And then, when you finally relaxed...you ended up with a charley horse?

That may not seem quite so odd...except where this charley horse occurred.

-_-;

I don't think my tongue will ever be the same again. **cries**

"Togari" by Yoshinori Natsume...manga =^_^=

Hmm...on a whim, the other day, I bought volume one of the manga Togari. I wasn't certain if it was going to be good or not, having never heard of the series nor the mangaka (sp?).

I'm glad I took a chance. Unfortunately, there was only one volume there...so...I searched online for either downloadable scanlations or online viewing (found both, incidentally). Just finished reading the last chapter of the last volume...and wow! Though the ending was somewhat disappointing, from the point of view that I like there to be definite resolutions to the stories that I read, it was also quite enlightening. And speaking from a some-times fanfic author...**grinz**...it definitely leaves open immeasurable possibilities!

I also very much enjoyed the development of the main protagonist, Tobei. He went from being little more than an "animal" surviving solely on instict to something much, much more. =^_^= The story seemed to be a study of human growth and development as well as how even those drowning in the darkness of their own misdeeds and malice can somehow, against all odds, find redemption. Hehe...kinda like when I was young and naive...I firmly believed that there was good in everyone. Even now, to a certain extent, I still try to believe that. Maybe that's why when watching anime, movies, tv series, etc. I have a tendency to gravitate towards the misguided and misundertood "bad guy". ^_~

BEFORE:
The protagonist, Tobei
Not really some one to inspire warm fuzzy feelings of trust and safety, ne? O.o More like a classic anti-hero/psychotic villain!

AFTER:
The Protagonist, Tobei
Wow...he really cleans up well, ne? =^_^= It's amazing what a bath, some clothes, and a lot of soul searching can do for a guy...

Anyhoo...I'm going to definitely collect Togari as each new volume is released. =^_^=

Life Sucks

Well...stress is playing a large part of my life at the moment.

My mom just had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday and it turns out that she wasn't completely honest with me regarding the reason behind it. It appears that, yes, she does indeed have a lump. Apparently it's the size of an egg or plum. The end result was that she had a biopsy and in 10 - 14 days we should get the results. Either way, she'll have to go for surgery. If it's benign, they'll just remove the lump to be on the safe side...if it's malignant, it'll be a full mastectomy...again.

At any rate, I've already talked to my boss about this and gave him advance warning that I'm going to require some time off in the near future. He's already said that there would be no problem, but depending on how much time I'll require, I may or may not have to quit or take a leave of absence. Because our Christmas Rush is coming up, he may not be able to hold my position indefinately. However, he has assured me that if I reapply, I'll definately be rehired. He mentioned that if I need up to 6 weeks off, there is no problem...but anything above that...yeah. T_T

I'm a little annoyed (okay...seriously pissed off...) that it's always me...why can't my sister take time off from her job to come and help mom? Why is it always up to me to put my life on hold? Honestly...my job means less than hers? -_-; Yeah. I'm irritated that hubby and I have to go through financial difficulty but she doesn't have to. What's up with that?

It isn't that I don't want to help my mom. It isn't that I won't help my mom. Hubby and I will do whatever it takes to ensure that mom's health is top priority...but it just doesn't seem fair that it's always us and never either of my other siblings. I have a brother and I have a sister...but neither seem to think it's a big deal that I'm the only one that takes time off work to take her to her doctor appointments or whatever. Since July, all the time I've taken off has not been for myself. T_T

I'm just thankful that my boss is as understanding as he is.

T_T Blah Blah Blech

I didn't want to do it...I really didn't want to...but I had to. No choice in the matter considering the circumstances.

I had to call in sick to work.

Not that anyone would be paticularly interested in my crappy night...but...

Went to bed relatively early after a rather frustrating day filled with abnormal swelling of my hands (and fingers), legs (including feet and toes) and other joints (knees, elbows, and wrists) accompanied by general aches and pains I usually associate with the 'flu...but other than that I didn't feel all that bad yesterday until around 7pm (unless being extremely hot counts). At that time my eyes started burning and "running" (got the classic watery red eyes I usually experience with allergies), and my sinuses hurt. But, I couldn't figure out what I could've had an allergic reaction to...except maybe freshly cut lawn...but I would've thought I'd have an immediate reaction, not a two hour delay. **shrugs** Went home and was in bed by 10:30pm. Was up again at 11:30pm with a nasty feeling of vetigo and nausea. Took a Gravol (only had the "long acting" variety T_T) and was relatively okay after that (don't really know 'cause I slept through until the alarm this morning). This morning I didn't feel much better...achy, swelling, nausea...and then, about half an hour ago, my head started thumping with what I associate with a precursor to a migraine. T_T So...yeah...no choice but to take a Tylenol 3, call in to work, and grumble 'cause of my lost wages now.

I have to take a week off starting on September 6 'cause my mom is going for surgery to remove the cataract from her other eye (had the other one done in July) and she firmly believes that she can't put the drops in by herself. **shakes head** Oh well...I just have to think about all the times my mom took care of me over the years (I'm not counting my childhood since it's usually expected that parents care for their children as they're growning up, right?) and I feel that I kind of owe her this at the very least. She helped me out a lot after my car accident(s) and when I fell off the ladder at work, which technically she didn't really need to do since I was already married and away from "home". So...yeah. The least I can do is help her out when she needs it. =^_^=

Oh...ew...yucky. >.< Non-sugared coffee. Blech. Of course, the caffeine probably isn't doing my migraine any good...neither is sitting at the computer and staring at the screen...>.>

Hmm...I'm thinking a nap would be good about now...might help take the edge off the pounding at the top of my head. -_-;

Ranting, Ranting, Ranting

Gyah! **screams**

Freakin' Noxious Weeds Act! What the heck is considered a Noxious Weed?! Delphiniums? They're self-seeding...and by city's definition, any plant that is self-seeding is considered a Noxious Weed.

Is it perhaps the lawn? With the heat wave we've been having, it's been all but impossible to mow the lawn in the backyard (who in their right mind would be out there in 34C mowing three terraced hills?!). So, maybe that's it.

Or perhaps it's the rhubarb? After all, it comes up on its own every year.

The bluebells?

The Lily-of-the-Valley?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

If we don't take care of the Noxious Weeds, we'll be fined $250 after the first notice (which we just received) and $500 after the second notice. Don't know about most other people, but I know for a fact that my mother can't afford that.

So...my suggestion...which I admit I was a little snarky about giving to the person at City Hall...was to take Round Up to the whole damn yard and kill every blasted thing here.

I was told that someone would get back to me to make it a little more clear what is considered a Noxious Weed. Riiiiight.

**rants some more**

It just really pisses me off. One would think these people have better things to do with their time other than harrassing an old woman with a heart problem (which, incidentally, we had to take her to the Emergency Room on Saturday to deal with...had an angina...whatever the hell that is supposed to mean). >.<

I need to put myself into a better mood quickly. Supposed to be expecting my great-niece this afternoon and I highly doubt my little Munchikin wants to deal with a grumpy aunty. -_-;

Fatalistic BruBah

I'm currently feeling rather...bummed.

There is a reason for feeling this way, but one I don't wish to share with the rest of the world. I'll just keep it to myself so as to not sound...childish and hyper-sensitive, I suppose is the correct way of phrasing it.

Suffice to say that something I thought of as enjoyable is now something I am no longer doing. Won't be doing. Won't be sharing. Etc. Truthfully, I should probably remove everything associated with this activity, but part of me just can't quite do it.

Though I know I should probably "talk out" my issues, I just don't think I want to share something that would probably strike others as being temperamental bullshit.

But still...

**le sigh**

Perhaps things would be better if I just removed myself completely...

Well...Grrr.

At the moment I'm so mad I could spit nails. Or however that saying goes. Whatever.

Talk about bitch attitude in a nurse. I go in to the doctor because of my foot. The one I think may be broken...but I don't know for sure 'cause, well, I'm not a doctor. Anyhoo...the nurse asks me what I'm there to see the doctor for today and I tell her that I think I may have broken my foot. She says why do you think that? I tell her 'cause it hurts so bad that I can't think of anything else that may be wrong with it. She asks when I injured it...and I replie I don't know...woke up this way on Saturday. Her reply? (In a very snooty tone, I might add) Well, if you don't know how you broke it, then how do you know it's broken? By now I'm getting a little irritated, but I try to keep my cool and tell her that I don't know for a fact that it's broken but that it really hurts. She harps on about how it couldn't be broken if I don't remember injuring it. Finally I got fed up and more than a little testy, so I told her that Fine, maybe not broken, then hurt. She goes on again about how did I hurt it? By now I'm pissed off 'cause I just finished telling her that I don't remember hurting it.

All in all if they would've taken my blood pressure at that point it would've been through the roof. Now, I know that she was only trying to do her job...but did she have to be such a freakin' bitch about it? >.<

Long story short, the X-Ray department was closed today, so I have to go back tomorrow morning. Since I don't know the point of injury, that's pretty much all the doctor can do for me at the moment. There are two other possiblities...but the doctor was even uncertain if one actually applied since there's no heat in the injured area. The other, well, considering the swelling, he said that that might not apply either. Only one thing is currently known: My foot hurts. -_-; Yay. I think I could've told him that before he examined me. >.<

Blech. And I have to deal with that bitch of a nurse tomorrow morning again after I go for X-Rays. Oh joy.

I'm Broken T_T

Yeah...I'm fairly certain that I broke either my toe or my foot. Considering where the pain seems to be centred, I'd say my foot is a likely prospect. -_-; So, I broke down and took mykitten's advice and made an appointment with the doctor. Unfortunately, the soonest I could get in was late this afternoon. So, I called in to work and talked to my boss, explaining the situation. He took me off the schedule for today and told me to take care of my foot first before even beginning to worry about work. It's awesome having such an understanding and caring boss. So, that's what I'm about to do. Going to put my foot up and rest it...it hurts just from the pressure of my sock. >.< Honestly, how do I do these things to myself? -_-;

So...mykitten, I should be around today when you get home from work. My appointment with the doctor isn't until 3:45pm. I wonder if the clinic's X-ray department is even open on Monday's. O.o

(Which, incidentally, I've been listening to for the majority of the evening. -_-; Really must remember to load more than one song at a time...**coughs**)

New Icon!

WooHoo! I got "creative" and made a new icon this evening. Probably should've timed it...how long it took to make, that is...just out of curiosity's sake. Well...I can say that in the amount of time that it took to make this particular icon I was able to listen to Groove Coverage's song Poison 24 times. >.> Does that count as timing? **laughs** It probably just goes to show that I'm rather obsessive that I listened to one song repeatedly for that long...-_-;

**coughs**

Anyhoo...

Sai and Haruno Sakura from Naruto (100 X 100)

And just in case anyone is curious...here's the larger version of the Icon:

Sai & Haruno Sakura (500 X 500)

Might edit this post later and add more...not sure. Is getting late and my "creativity" is rather limited when my brain starts to shut down for sleep mode. **grinz**

Naruto Wallpapers

Was playing around yesterday and showing a friend of mine the perks of PSP (she uses Photoshop)...and I made this:

Uchiha Sasuke & Haruno Sakura Wallpaper...just remember that I in no way endorse the SasuSaku pairing -_-; (1024 x 768)

And tonight I was working on making something for mykitten specifically. Didn't quite turn out the way I'd intended, though. But it still looks okay, I think...

Hyuuga Neji & Haruno Sakura Wallpaper (1024 x 768)

I made several versions, actually, but I'm just going to post the one I finally decided on.

Ichigo, Orihime & Ulquiorra banner-type (780 x 375)

Ichigo, Orihime & Hollow!Ichigo Banner-Type (780 x 375)

The two images are very similar with only minor variances (beyond the obvious of certain characters).

And this is my current LJ Icon:

Ulquiorra Icon (100 X 100)

Made a wallpaper

I made several versions, actually, but I'm just going to post the one I finally decided on.

Ulquiorra wallpaper (1024 x 768)

I may post the others, but they essentially look the same with only minor variations. **points to header banner** I even made it into a banner thingie. But, it doens't fit right up there, so I'm going to have to either make alterations to it, or scrap that idea and start fresh tomorrow. Not tonight. I'm planning on going to bed as soon as I finish typing this. I still want to make an icon...but again, that'll have to wait 'til tomorrow. Might use a variant on what I was working on today...don't know. Will have to see when my brain is fully rested and I'm not strung out on cold meds. Gah. Hate being sick.

Since I'm currently having to miss work 'cause I'm sick at home...

Though I didn't find exactly what I was looking for in the above image, I'm still not disappointed 'cause I think that's a very nice and well done wallpaper. =^_^=

I'm going to keep searching for Ulquiorra pics/renders...might even luck out and find some of Orihime (but I won't hold my breath quite yet)...and if I meet with success, I'll try to turn my current top image from a Chibi-Loki-kun one into a super kakoi-Ulquiorra one. **grinz**

I need to make a new icon...one featuring Chibi-Loki, I think. The banner I used at the top of my journal shows the image I was thinking of using. If I remember correctly, I scanned it directly from the manga...but I can't remember which volume at the moment. Speaking of which, I'm going to have to find those manga and re-read them again. Been a few months since I read Matantei Loki. With any luck, I'll be able to order Matantei Loki: Ragnarok next month from Tamarket (if they still have it in stock, that is).
